Meet the Scorpius set in Emerald symbolizing love, truth and hope. It is an elegant full-length circle skirt that uses the traditional chikankari technique from Lucknow and rich badla metal work. The intricate, labour-intensive chikankari work is done on silk georgette and lined with 100% silk crepe. The skirt includes a tulle underlay for added volume, and a solid waistband.

Each skirt—available in eight, crystal-inspired colours—comes with a matching Lucknovi dupatta that’s also embroidered using chikankari and badla techniques. The dupatta is finished with its own distinct border.

CLOSURES : Invisible zip closure in the back.

DETAILS : Length of skirt is 46 inches.

STYLING TIP : Each skirt comes with 1.5 meters of matching plain crepe fabric so you can select your own style of top. Choose from seven different silhouettes like a bustier, bustier with sleeves, scoop bustier, scoop bustier with sleeves, one-shoulder top, modest silhouette or a classic MKJ top.

FABRIC CONTENT : skirt:- Silk georgette and lined with 100% silk crepe, includes a tulle underlay Top: 100% silk

Dupatta: Tulle with badla and hand-embroidered zari' .

Originating from Lucknow, India, this hand-done, labour-intensive embroidery technique is said to date back to the Mughal courts. The delicate handiwork began with white-on-white embroidery but has since included coloured fabrics. Chikankari is often combined with other embellishments like badla, sequins and mirror work.

This metal work technique uses flattened metal wires pierced through fabric to create beautiful and intricate designs. Originally, real gold and silver was used to make these threads, but different materials are now used to achieve that same effect.

The Story behind Scorpius

Adding our unique twist, we fondly refer to lucknowi as Scorpius, a nod to the Scorpius constellation. Originating from Lucknow, India, this fabric intertwines with the exquisite embroidery technique known as 'chikan kari,' translating to "embroidery of the imagination," which traces its roots back to the Mughal era.

More Looks with Scorpius

This fabric exudes such opulence and heritage that it simply couldn't be confined to just traditional lenghas and saris. Mani ingeniously found a way to integrate it into everyday wardrobes by crafting adorable mini sets.

The Embroidery Process

What truly distinguishes Chikankari is the unwavering dedication artisans infuse into each masterpiece. Ranging from basic stitches like the "backstitch" to more intricate ones such as the "shadow work," this diverse array of stitches enables artisans to craft a kaleidoscope of patterns, from delicate florals and paisleys to elaborate geometrical motifs. Additionally, the embellishment with "badla" (metal coins) further elevates the allure of the silk pieces, evoking the celestial charm of the constellations.
