A SHOWER INSPIRED BY THE STARS

As many of you know, Mani has a huge affinity for all things astronomy (which has previously inspired many of her designs, including the Scorpius Bridal Collection). She now extends that in her Celestial Themed baby shower, adding a more dark gothic touch to this sweet event. 

The whole vision was brought to reality with the help of Sukhy from Opulent Event Designs who executed the vision with her beautiful decor. Bouquets of dark lush florals, neutral draping, rich navy place settings, a crescent moon for a photo-op and of course what felt like a larger-than-life (inflatable) moon were key pieces of the visuals. 

In sharing her thoughts on curating the aesthetic for the shower, Sukhy says that “When Mani approached me with the concept she had in mind for her baby shower, I knew exactly the colour palette that would fit her vision! The moody tones of navy, cobalt, black with pops of champagne, burgundy and splashes of mixed metals set the vibe for her intimate celestial baby shower. The combination of fresh and dried florals was the finishing touch to add texture and elegance around her beautiful home.”

All of these elements combined made it feel like the night sky was brought down to the ground.

On the contrary, the treats by Wake and Bake tasted “out of this world”! Guests couldn’t get enough of the blueberry panna cotta, cupcakes, sugar cookies, gelée and the carrot cake. Massi to the baby, Simmy definitely had some of her best sweets at the shower.

The guests were also welcomed with an exotic array of cocktails by Neat Mobile Bar to sip on throughout the afternoon. The Passion Fruit Margarita, Lychee Tom Collins, Whiskey Sour, Lychee Martini and Shirley Temple were just divine, as was the Virgin Mango Mojito to quench the mango juice craving Mani had during this pregnancy. 

Additionally, the delicious dining was catered by Avani Restaurant for the event with some more of Mani’s favourite pregnancy cravings such as the aloo parathas, fried chicken sliders and aloo tikkis. 

The design for Mani’s dress not only aligns with the theme of the event, but it also embodies a more personal touch for the designer. This stunning outfit is fully adorned in the three specific constellations of The Scorpius (Scorpio), The Fishes (Pisces), and The Archer (Sagitarrius), which are the corresponding star signs of the Mother, Father and Baby respectively. The designer had the fabric custom embroidered with the embellishments for this special day. Once the fabric arrived, Mani and the team - specifically Vasniya, Elisa, Harman and nani-to-be (grandmother-to-be) Pam Jassal - worked hard to bring this outfit together in a very short amount of time.

Mani did not want to go the usual route of having a flowy look for the event and instead wanted something that was sexy and accentuated the baby bump. The final outcome was a fitted cut-out gown with sheer gloves (similar to the Cher Slinky Dress) worn by Mani, which definitely left us “starry-eyed” for this gorgeous dress!

A look is never complete without the final glam. Close friends to the designer, make-up artist Yasmine and hair stylist Sonia Singh had Mani looking ethereal for the baby shower. Additionally, a special thank-you to Cle De Peau for Mani’s gorgeous lipstick for the day, as well as sponsoring some amazing lipsticks shades for all the guests to take home for themselves. 

 Truly an incredible afternoon spent with loved ones, filled with laughter and heartfelt blessings for the new parents.  We wish Mani a beautiful, healthy birth and best wishes for the arrival of the newest member of the family.
