A POETIC DRAPE

RUPI KAUR X MANI JASSAL

The infamous poet, Rupi Kaur, had heads turning yet again with her chic and statement fashion ensembles.

The talented star teamed up with rising fashion designer, Mani Jassal and artist, Maryam Keyhani for an outfit that brought two worlds together. 

Rupi wanted to bring a touch of Punjab fashion to her last performance of the year in Philadelphia this past week. 

Rupi wears a Maryam Keyhani corset and form fitting skirt paired with a Mani Jassal Black Chiffon Dupatta.

"I wanted to wear the dupatta in a way that would elevate my look and add more presence on stage, but not need my arms to hold it up. That's usually the biggest challenge with wearing Indian wear during a performance, it's hard to to do cause you need to hold it up" -Rupi

"However, in this way I could use my arms during the performance and it doubled as a cape. I felt that it bridged the gap between west and east, which I, as a first generation immigrant am also doing." -Rupi
