Women's Day with The Mani Jassal Team

Women's Day with The Mani Jassal Team

Happy Women's Day

The Mani Jassal brand is all about empowering and celebrating women! So today we bring to you a special blog which revolves around the strong women who make the  Mani Jassal Brand what you see and love.
The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge which aligns perfectly with the Mani Jassal brand.  We want to allow women to express their strength and choices through the designs they choose to wear on their body.
The brand chooses to challenge conventional design by utilizing unorthodox cuts, fabrics and colours that set the brand apart. The Mani Jassal brand operates as one that belongs neither in one market or the other, but rather in a self-developed niche for women who wish to dress in comfort and modernity, while being unapologetically themselves.

Meet the faces behind the brand Zainab, Production assistant, working since December 2020

What is it like working with a team of women?
I am fortunate enough to be able to empower other women in a mainly male dominated industry. A lot of the women on my team have been with me from when I was starting out .Nikki and I met in first year at Ryerson and became good friends after. She and another friend of ours helped me create the Udaipur Tea Party Collection in August 2015 when I had no team or employees. Just the three of us hanging in the basement working on a collection, not knowing that it would help launch my career in opening up a store.  Devina joined the team in April 2016 when I opened up my first store location as an intern, and she has been on the team since fulfilling a lot of roles from sales, marketing, production, website management , and modelling haha. Sabrina started with me the summer of 2017 as an intern and after she completed graduation at Ryerson she joined the team as a Production Assistant, and Cutter. Kinde joined the team remotely as our Lead Social Media Marketing Coordinator in 2020 and is the person in charge of all of our instagram story content. Kinde has been a day 1 supporter of the brand since I graduated Ryerson, always coming up with ideas for me to execute marketing wise.  Zainab is the newest member of the company and joined us December 2020, and has seamlessly become a part of the family.
I would not have been able to do this all by myself. It takes a team of queens to make it all happen !

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be?
Should have taken more business courses!

How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?
Like a queen and unapologetically themselves.

Describe your memorable moment this past year?
It has to be the opening of my flag ship store that consolidates all aspects of the brand like showroom, production studio, office and photoshoot studio.
